Training culture brings national recognition for local IT firm

A local IT consultancy thats ensured training and staff development are part of its organisational culture is in line for a national training award.

Specialist Adelaide IT consultancy NetCraft Australia designs, manages, supports and secures complex IT systems. The company is a finalist in the Prime Ministers Small Business of the Year category of the 2004 Australian Training Awards to be held in Melbourne next month.

NetCraft takes a pro-active approach to training and staff development to ensure all 11 staff members are ahead of the latest technology. The company believes its business success is directly attributable to training.

According to ANTA chairman, David Hind, the key to becoming internationally competitive is recognition by employers that training is absolutely critical to achieving success.

Employers like NetCraft Australia are setting the standard in on-the-job training, and are reaping the rewards as a result, said Mr Hind.

Two other national organisational awards are also up for grabs with River Murray Training (RMT) from Berri and ACI Glass Packaging, also in Adelaide, both striving for the ultimate in training prizes.

In the student categories, four South Australians will be flying the flag at the awards. Brad Donaldson from Adelaide, Goolwas Jade McHughes, Stephen Zaluski of Morphett Vale and Gary Kupke of Oaklands Park are all in the running for a national title.

The 2004 Australian Training Awards will be held at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne on Thursday, 18 November 2004. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of apprentices, trainees and students as well as the contribution of enterprises and training providers to skilling Australia.

The Australian Training Awards are hosted by the Australian National Training Authority and supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training.
